Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Veteran aerobics instructor Kathy Smith jumps aboard the Tae-Bo bandwagon with her punchy video Kickboxing Workout and adds her own brand of California-girl pep to the popular martial-arts routine. Accompanied by martial-arts champ Keith Cooke, Smith presents a terrific, high-adrenaline workout, based on the punches, jabs, kicks, and squats that Tae-Bo lovers will recognize, with more polished production values and a more appealing music track. Smith and Cooke alternate leading the onscreen group and point out several low-impact alternative moves for beginners. The 45-minute workout is a great fat-burner, and those side kicks will shape those hips in no time. --Anne Hurley

Customer Reviews

Kathy Smith & The Energizer Bunny (Keith Cooke) will get you sweating. No glamour or half- naked women. Great Instruction!5
Kickboxing is my favorite type of cardio. It can be hard to find DVDs that teach proper form. This one does. Keith Cooke is given a side window on the screen for each new skill throughout the workout. He teaches the proper footing, stance, body angles, and punching and kicking form. The music is motivating, but watching Keith really keeps you moving. When you start to feel tired, one look at his energy gets you working harder.

Will it make you sweat? Oh yes. Even the pros are sweating by the end of the cardio. The moves are basic enough that you can use your ankle weights and weight gloves if you want to up the intensity.

You don't need previous kickboxing experience to do this video. They teach you everything. However, you definitely want to hold off from doing this workout if you haven't been working out regularly. Start with something that is less intense. I recommend Quickfix - Total Cardio Kick. It's a great place to start. You won't get proper form, but the workout is fun and based upon kickboxing. If you haven't worked out at all, or are just starting back after an injury, I'd recommend going very basic with Extreme Makeover Fitness - Weight Loss Workout for Beginners. There are only a few boxing moves in this video, but it will definitely get you into the proper shape to move towards the real kickboxing workouts.

Good for training, not for cardio1
I'm really surprised and disappointed that so many people gave this video high marks, especially since I bought the video based on those reviews. I rarely contribute comments on videos, but after doing this video for the first time today I was so disappointed I have to comment. It is a great instructional video for the beginner who has never done a kickboxing workout before. But if you are looking for a cardio workout, this is not it. Kathy takes so much time to teach and build up all the components of a move. Then when you finally do the complete move, the number of reps are very low, and you are back to training for the next move. I barely broke a sweat. If you are looking for a great cardio kickboxing workout, buy Power Kicks (Aaron Langford). I'm desperately searching for another great kickboxing video to have some variety, but with Kathy's video I'm disappointed yet again.

Best workout5
I have a lot of workout videos, but this is the best all around kickboxing video I own. I really toned up great just using this video. It can be used by a beginner or an intermediate and still get great results. They show the proper way to punch and kick, which I don't get on a lot of other videos. I felt very empowered using this video.
